THE CONSTRUCTION OF OUR FUSTES
After studying as a forest technician, Johane cut her teeth on a first small 12m² log before undertaking the self-construction of her future home in 2009.
But Johane didn't stop there: after building his own home, he quickly took up the chainsaw again to create two additional chalets, each 50m², which he converted into gîtes ("Epicéa" in 2012 and "Douglas" in 2017), in order to introduce vacationers to the region where he grew up. In 2018, he added a small additional fuste which accommodates a relaxation area with sauna and Scandinavian bath: this is how the Fustes en Pays du Mézenc were born.
In 2022, the desire to cut logs is felt again, and a 3rd gîte is born: the "Sapin" gîte, designed to accommodate 2 people, will accommodate its first tenants in June 2024.
Building a log is above all using natural materials for human well-being and respect for nature . The tree trunks are peeled, cut and adjusted by hand by the fustier, using true age-old know-how. This home is a healthy, pleasant and modern living space.
